Brazil Update! The 3rd Porto Alegre Push Race was Awesome!

Marcio Benevides is both a GRN TM Rider and an Ambassador. Here’s his latest report from Brazil.

The weather forecast had a 60% chance of rain. We kept our fingers crossed hoping we would have good weather during the race. On Sunday morning the sky was overcast but it did not rain, so the race went off as scheduled. This is the 3rd year we’ve put on the Porto Alegre Push Race. It all began in 2009 when I decided to organize the 1st Push event in Brazil. I called it Porto Alegre Push Race in honor to my hometown. In 2009 we had over 30 riders racing. The next year we had over 80 participants and this year we had over 200 riders!

The event is getting bigger and bigger every year thanks to ABEC 11 and all the others supporters (Onbongo, TopSkate, Vertigem Tattoo, Bustin, Mad Rats, GoDown and 187). I can assure ABEC 11′s support gives a whole new dimension to the event. Thanks to all the supporters. This year was the gnarliest event up to now with a tough race among the top 5 finishers. They battled really hard until they crossed the finish line and you can see it all on film. The video (by Fritas) of the whole race is below. The Porto Alegre Push Race is more than a race. It is a big riders’ meeting where we can race and at the same time show to the whole city how big and organized is our skateboard community deserving to be respected by all the population. Thanks ABEC 11!!

Here’s a couple GRN TM pics of Marcio in action!
